Some news...

So I have been MIA for a while. (Okay, a few months... oops)

Honestly, things have been kinda hectic in our house. Really getting into the swing of a daily routine since school has been in session, lots of different things going on at work, and... ya know.. morning sickness. Lots and lots of morning sickness. That's right.. we will need to change the name of the blog soon!

May I present to you... Baby #3!

We found out about our newest bundle mid-September and it has been quite the roller coaster ride! When I went for the early risk assessment ultrasound and bloodwork, something didn't come back quite right. The baby's risk of Down syndrome increased from a 1 in 785 chance (normal for my age) to a 1 in 69 chance.  Naturally, we freaked out. We did a ton of research and booked a level 2 ultrasound for ASAP. I knew I would love that sweet baby regardless of the outcome, but the fear of the unknown had me going crazy.

When we got our appointment with the genetic counselor, we were offered the Harmony test. It's a blood test that can determine with 99% accuracy if the baby will be born with Down syndrome, and it can also tell the sex of the baby. We took advantage of that offer and also did the ultrasound, which was normal. They said to expect the Harmony results in 2 weeks, but it could be longer since we did it the Monday before Thanksgiving.

But, exactly one week later, I got that phone call. I nervously answered the phone. "Hi, I have the results for the Harmony test! Are you ready?" .... of course I was ready! I have been sitting on the edge of my seat for the last 7 days! "The test for Down syndrome came back negative. There is a .001% chance your baby will be born with it. I also know the sex of the baby, if you would like to know?"

UMMMMM, IS THAT A  LEGIT QUESTION?

Then she said the 3 words that have kept a permanent smile plastered to my face for the last 6 days.

"It's a boy!"

I was so excited, I started crying. I ran into Babies R Us and grabbed the cutest pair of boy PJs I could find and hurried down to Keith's work while he was still on his lunch break. We weren't expecting the phone call for another week so when I called him sounding frantic, he had no idea what was going on. I wrapped the PJs up in a gift bag and had him open it and the look on his face was priceless.

We wanted this little man SO badly and are so excited to get to meet him. I am due in late May and time is actually going by surprisingly fast. There is a lot to do before he is born. We need a bigger home, a bigger car.. and lots of BLUE things! We've already gotten a little jumpstart on shopping.. it's a totally different experience than buying girl clothes but we are loving every minute of it!

Aubrey is totally ecstatic. She wanted a little brother in the worst way. Of course, Addie is still too young to understand. But she is obsessed with babies so I'm not too worried.

Hope you all are enjoying this holiday season! We will be back soon! (I promise - no more 3 month hiatus!)
